Apple iMac 27-inch

THE GOOD: Largest display among all-in-ones; fast dual-core CPU makes up for lack of quad-core (mostly); finally has an SD Card slot; wireless mouse and keyboard; Mini DisplayPort input ripe with possibility. THE BAD: Most Windows all-in-ones in the price range have Blu-ray; touch-sensitive mouse gestures not as responsive as wed like; increase in AppleCare cost makes Apples nickel-and-dime customer service policy even worse. THE BOTTOM LINE: Apples new 27-inch iMac will charm plenty of you with its screen size alone. Fortunately, that wont lead you astray. Behind its expansive display, Apple has packed one of the fastest all-in-ones available, and added a few useful extras to sweeten the deal. This iMac isnt perfect, but its positives far outweigh its negatives. We can think of few users to whom we wouldnt recommend this system. -

Apple iMac 27-inch 3rd-gen
Posted 3 weeks ago -
The Apple iMac is an all-in-one desktop with a sleek design and an impressive array of features. As Apples flagship product, the Apple iMac comes with a magnificent viewing experience. The screen, 27 inches wide and LED backlit, provides a crisp, clear viewing that has a 178 degree viewing range. The 16:9 widescreen display, 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, and frameless side-ends maximize the viewing experience. The Apple iMac, with Core 2 Duo processors running at 3.06GHz has bested its competitiors in multitasking tests. In addition, the Apple iMac has room for four memory module slots, which not only means that theres now a 16GB RAM limit, but that inexpensive 2GB SODIMMs can be used for an 8GB configuration. Impressively, the price for all of this is $200 less than the two previous high-end models, even though there has been updates to the CPU speed, screen, and peripherals. Drawbacks to this impressive model include a lack of HDMI ports and no Blu-ray ... PROS: (1) Optional Intel Core i7 processor (2) large 27" LED backlit display - quality IPS panel, huge 2,560 x 1,440px resolution (3) beautiful all-in-one hardware design (4) dedicated ATI Radeon 4670 graphics - upgradable to the 4850 (5) cool and quiet ... CONS: (1) no HDMI output (stuck with the relitively unused DisplayPort) (2) no Blu-ray optical drive options -
