Description: Uniden TCX905 Additional Cordless Handset For Use With Uniden 9000 Series Phones, Black/Silver.
Strengths:Identical to base system handsets with all the features
Weaknesses:Glossy finish may get scuffed
Posted Jun 17, 2006 - This is an excellent handset that features all the bells and whistles of the base sets that it expands. With backward compatibility to many other Uniden lines, this is a perfect find for anyone looking to add handsets to their house without the hassle of finding additional phone jacks. Comes with its own rechargeable base, and also serves as an additional intercom to the cordless phone network.

Strengths:Good signal quality. Easy, 5-second association with base unit to allow for use.
Posted Jun 2, 2006 - I bought 2 of these phones in addition to the TRU94852 base station bundle in order to place several phones throughout the house with only 1 wired line. The phones work well and sound great inside the house regardless of distance from base station. Who needs several types of cordless phones all plugged into a physical line when you can have one base station and several interchangeable cordless phones? Great product!

Strengths:Price, Easy to use, Good signal, 4-way joystick-like button
Posted Jun 15, 2006 - I got these on a B1G1 deal to go along with my TRU9485-2, they work great together! The quality of sound, range and the clarity of the speakerphone on the handset remain excellent. Registering the handset to the base was so easy, just sit it into the base for 5 seconds, you are in! No complaints and happy with the phones. :-)

Strengths:(1) Stylish design
(2) Excellent build quality
(3) Friendly interface
(4) Reasonable price
Weaknesses:(1) Sound from hand-free speaker is not very clear
Posted Jun 24, 2006 - I bought a TRU-8885 several months ago and decided to add more handsets lately. After searching on the web, I found this TCX905 is a good deal. It's a update from previous generation of TCX805. With same functions, better design and user interface, surprisingly, this handset is sold at half price of the TCX805. It costs me $55 to get two handsets. If you need get more handset for CXL or TRU series cordless phone, you wouldn't regret for getting this one.

Strengths:Good range and clarity
Weaknesses:Avg battery life
Posted May 17, 2006 - I use this model as extensions handsets for my base unit a CLX485. Not as pretty as the color LCD on the CLX unit but it works fine and you cant see the colors when in use. Ringers and speaker phone useage is nice. Sounds like it shuts off with a on/off switch at time due to threshold noises but still good in function. This was easy to set into my phone system since the base unit controlled most of that feature. I reccommend this extention.

Strengths:Works with system; nice button arrangement
Weaknesses:Different style; slightly difficult to register; slight whine on line
Posted May 23, 2006 - I picked up the TCX905 as an extra handset for the TRU8885-2, which comes with the base handset and one other. The TCX905 is a different style from the TRU8885; however, it's also $10 cheaper than the expansion handset that's the same style as the TRU8885.
As an added benefit, Uniden changed the button style for the TCX905 series. The TRU8885 has the talk button as a large button in the upper center of the handset. When cradling the phone, it's easy to hit the talk button with your cheek, hanging up the phone. The TCX905 has a more sensible design, with the center button designated a navigation button, and the talk and end buttons on either side.
Their are a couple of downsides to the phone. The different style kind of bugs me; however, I've placed the TCX905 alone in the bedroom, so it's not that noticable.
Secondly, the sticker on the TCX905 says that all you have to do to register the phone with the base is set it in the base. However, that's only for certain styles of phones. The registration method for the TRU8885 is more complicated. You end up having to read the instruction manual for the TRU8885 to figure out how to do it. It's not that difficult, and you only have to do it once, but it's still annoying.
Lastly, there's a slight whine on the TCX905 that's not present on the TRU8885. However, it's very slight, and I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't checking the phones carefully regarding a separate phone difficulty.

Strengths:Good Range, Lots of features for the price
Weaknesses:Does not have voice tags that work with caller id
Posted Aug 16, 2006 - I was lucky enough to find the accessory handsets on sale at Office Max (buy one for $30 and get one free). I brought home 4 of them to go with the 3 that came with the base station. Setting them up was very easy.
This system has so many features it's hard to know where to start. The caller ID works on every handset, you can have different address books on different handsets, and copy them back and forth. When there is a message, all of the handsets have a blinking light and you can listen to messages from any handset.
I really like the intercomm features that this set has, now my wife and I don't have to yell at each other up and down the stairways.
For the money, this system can't be beaten.

Strengths:Good signal quality
Posted May 30, 2006 - I bought seven of these units to hook up with a CLX485 base - while this phone lacks the color display of the TCX440 model, it offers good signal strength and decent battery life. I would strongly recommend.

Weaknesses:Limited number of ringtones
Posted Jul 24, 2006 - Good value for this type of expansion phone. Won't interfere with wireless networks (I was just on this phone while writing this on my wireless laptop). Instructions for making changes to base ringer are hard to find. Overall a good one to buy.

Strengths:Easy to set up with existing handsets and base
Weaknesses:have to pickup the to answer intercom
Posted Jul 19, 2006 - It's easy to just keep adding handsets once you have the base unit. You can name each handset so paging them individually is easy, as is the set up. Only thing I wish it did was just have the intercom be activated without having to pick up the unit.

Posted Jul 11, 2006 - Uniden has always been so user friendly and easy to set up. I currently use these phones with my vonage service and the clarity is sharp and crisp whether I use the speakerphone or the handset. I originally purchased the Uniden TRU9485-2 and purchased this TCX905 to add to my current set.
