SquareEnix Dumps on the 360 Userbase
Strengths:You get the full FFXI game with all 3 expansions.
Weaknesses:12.95 monthly fee, Dated graphics, Barebones port, No Achievements.
Posted Jul 14, 2006 - Final Fantasy XI is an Online RPG for XBOX 360. You get the game and all 3 expansions that have come out, but at a cost of $12.95 a month. In the game you get to create your character, pick its job, race, and home city. After you finish that the game starts. From there you can pretty much do anything from killing baddies, buying equipment, selling items, creating items, going on quests, making friends, etc.
Now that may sound good to you, but the game is seriously lacking in the XBOX 360 power department. Sure the game runs smooth, but the game looks like a second year PS2 game with all its low polygon and washed out textures. There are no achievements as well. SquareEnix just made a lazy port and insulted the 360 userbase.
I gave the game 2 stars because there might be some fun factor for some, but overall everyone should stay away from this non-nextgen lazy port of a 3 year old game.

LOST IN TRANSLATION
Strengths:IT'S FINAL FANTASY
Weaknesses:IT'S JUST NOT FUN
Posted Aug 22, 2006 - I TRIED THIS GAME FOR OVER 60 HOURS AND I WANTED TO LIKE IT, BUT I NEVER SAW THE BIG "A-HA!" THE GAME REALLY DRAGGED ON VERY SLOWLY AND IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN PLAYING WITH OTHERS OR HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING A TEAM, YOU MAY BE LEFT IN THE COLD. THE GAME MAKES YOU JOIN A TEAM TO EXCEL INTO THE LEVELS ABOVE 10. TRAVELING IN THE BEGINNING TAKES LONGER THAN MY LUNCH HOUR TO MAKE IT FROM ONE MISSION TO THE NEXT. MAYBE I DID NOT GIVE IT LONG ENOUGH, BUT MY GOODNESS THIS IS FREAK'N FINAL FANTASY!! GRAPHICS WERE SUB-PAR AND THE GAMEPLAY WAS JUST PLAIN BORING. PLAN TO SPEND A LOT OF LONELY HOURS ON THIS GAME WITH LITTLE RETURN. SADLY, I WAS PULLED IN TIME AFTER TIME BY THIS GAME WITH HOPE THAT IT WOULD GET EXCITING. AT TIMES IT BARELY DID, BUT I CONTINUE TO WAIT.

Strengths:Final Fantasy Game, MMORPG on the XBox 360, all the expansions in one night package.
Posted Jan 12, 2007 - If you're a fan of MMORPGs or the Final Fantasy series, you'll find a lot to like about the world of Final Fantasy online world. The series still looks like a Final Fantasy game with pretty moogles and vast worlds. The game plays, however, like just about every other MMORPG. Sure, there are chocobos and moogles running around, but it is more or less the same old.
The game does feature a nice package of the game and all expansinos under one bundle, which alone is worth trying (especially now that you can find the game for relatively nothing). The free trial is nice, but the monthly fee really hurt it. Playing online with friends with a computer is cool and would allow two people in the same house to play at the same time, but not under the same account.
Sadly, Final Fantasy XI doesn't provide enough upgrades to warrant a full price release on the 360, but the bargain price now (anything under $30) is more than worth checking out for fans of the genre or the series.

FFXI First Impressions
Strengths:Soundtrack, Cross-Platform Support, Final Fantasy Setting
Weaknesses:Aging Graphics, Cumbersome Account System
Posted May 18, 2007 - FFXI is definitely beginning to show its age, but it still looks very respectable. Installing the game took a few hours and I found myself having to write down 3 separate account names/passwords (PlayOnline, PlayOnline e-mail, and a login). Be sure to record your account names and passwords in a safe place, as your master PlayOnline account name is a randomly generated string of characters.
Account and installation issues aside, the world is huge and the game appears to have a very healthy population. I also like the flexibility of being able to play on the PC, PS2, or 360 using the same account.

Strengths:Alot to do, and very versitile. Great the young and experiencd gamer. All the expansion packs that are out at this time are included in this version. Quite litterally days of entertainment. live peope
Weaknesses:Monthly fees, a little confuseing at the begining.
Posted 1 year ago - Its a great game if you give it a chance and actually talk to the NPC in the game when you first start to play it. They are basiclly the user guide to the game, and the information they reveal changed as the game progresses.

Final Fantasy XI
Strengths:It's a Final Fanstasy anyway.
Weaknesses:Costs $12.95! No offline play.
Posted Aug 30, 2007 - I am a big fan of Final Fantasy series, but I am a big hater of MMORPG. So I was in a dilemma. When the price became more reasonable, I grabbed Finaly Fantasy XI, played it, and found this game is not for FF lovers. Most of all, monthly payment of $12.95 for playing this game is the biggest drawback. MMORPG fan may like it, but I don't think Final Fantasy and MMORPG is a good combination.

An old MMORPG that shows its age....
Strengths:Final Fantasy Universe, Lots of quests
Weaknesses:Outdated graphics, monthly fee, dull gameplay, takes a long time just to log in
Posted Aug 3, 2007 - This old MMORPG shows its age on Xbox 360. The graphics are last gen, and don't look halfway good on 360. The gameplay is dull, with many boring quests. Leveling up takes a long time, so expect plenty of grinding. I would recommend any 360 gamer looking for a MMORPG to stay away from this one. The monthly fee is the same compared to other, much better PC MMORPGs.

FFXI
Strengths:You get all the expansions your fellow PC users will have
Weaknesses:Game is old - Its not on the same level graphicwise as other 360 games
Posted Jul 30, 2007 - Bought this because I had a friend that played the PC version. At first it was fun - then it just started to get old. Having to pay $12.99 a month isn't worth the entertainment you get out of this game, in my opinion. Then again, I'm not a huge MMO fan - so don't take my word completely at face value.
If you like Final Fantasy and MMO style games - it might be worth checking this out.

Strengths:Multiple Jobs
Good community
Square-enix listening to its clientele more and more
Weaknesses:Long grind to max out level
Largely dependant on grouping from level 10 on.
Posted May 20, 2007 - What's there to say? It plays like the PC version, the gamepad works nicely with it, and its a Final Fantasy MMO. Its obviously not for everyone but its rewarding if not time consuming when given a shot.

Posted May 5, 2007 - Ok this game is funner than people say it is. But it will be a long game very long to level up espeacialy if you dont know what your doing so this game is all about Team work parties without a party you wont level up past about LVL 20. But whats so fun about this game is theres Jobs then there higher jobs like being a Samurai,Ninja,Dragoon-you have a dragon. and some more you can also raise your own Chocobo and name it. Alot of people plat World Of Warcraft because its easier to learn.
Final Fantasy looks confusing at first but youll get use to it fast. And also World of Warcraft is easy you dont need parties. It doesnt have a penilty for Dieing now Final Fantasy Does you lose Exp or your lvl if your not careful that might sound like its really sucks but it keeps you interested in the game and make you get along with people making friends and thats the fun thing parties. So all around I say atleast try it with the Free Month or however many days.

Just can't compete with more recent MMO's
Strengths:Final Fantasy franchise, all expansions in one box.
Weaknesses:No achievements, you have to pay a monthly fee, and unimpressive graphics.
Posted Feb 27, 2007 - This game is standard fare in MMO's. It's nothing special, and newer games (WoW, Guild Wars) are a much better experience.
Those that enjoy the Final Fantasy brand may be able to stomach this story and the game world, but I was unimpressed. You will at least find a decent user base, but things are very slow in the beginning. There could be a very good game in here, but I don't want to slog through to find it.
And, I just can't see myself paying $12.95 a month on top of the Xbox Live Gold subscription.
