Strengths:Great illumination & small size
Weaknesses:Not for very dark conditions
Posted Oct 19, 2004 - Great light and small size make this light very easy to use and it fits right onto my camcorder. It doesn't work great in very dark rooms but then again it wasn't designed to illuminate in those conditions. Great for enhancing colors and pictures in dimly lit rooms.

Posted Jan 24, 2005 - For simple things, this is an adequate light. Don't expect to use it for long distances though. Good for small room work, video-portraiture, etc. Cheap enough to make it worth having if you own the appropriate video camera.

Strengths:Good for use in dark instances, excellent price
Weaknesses:Feeds off Camera Battery, connection no longer standard.
Posted Apr 14, 2005 - This light is perfect for me, an amateur videographer. It does a good job of lighting up dark rooms for about 5 feet, which is all I really needed it for. The light helps reduce the graininess of dark images.
The only reason I chose 3 stars is because 4 stars signifies I would buy it again. I would not buy it again, because the connector for this light to the camera is no longer the standard that sony uses. For their 2005 line of cameras, a different connector is used, and this light will no longer connect. However, this light is compatible with the majority of Sony's older models, so if you are looking for a decent light at a decent price for your older Sony Camera, then this is a good choice.

Strengths:Small and Light. Very easy to carry.
Weaknesses:Not for very dark situations.
Posted Feb 22, 2005 - A small and light light and can be used to light up indoor shootings. This removed the grains in the indoor recordings that would otherwise appear without any extra light. Works for me!

Strengths:small size but great illumination and it does not need extra battery. It lights up by itself when you set it on auto.
Weaknesses:It is using your camcorder battery power.
Posted Dec 11, 2005 - It is easy to put on your camcorder. It turns on when you need more light and turns off when you don't automatically.
The most thing I like it most is its size and weight that can put it in my pocket when I don't use it. I am happy that I have it !

Posted Dec 10, 2005 - Sony HVL-S3D 3-Watt Video Light is a very good product. In addition, it didn't carry very expensive tag (around $30 dollar). Compare to other Sony Video Light, this is the cheapest. However, it isn't a poorer product at all. As long as we try to capture the objects within 5 feet away. This 3-Watt light is sufficient to light up the objects. The light is very bright even the room is completely dark. Last year, we didn't have this video light and tried to capture the moment my mom blew out the candles in dark. The video didn't come out right. In contrast, I believe we can do much better job this year.

Strengths:Small size, fits perfectly on top of the camcorder, really light in weight
Weaknesses:No seperate battery of its own, limited range
Posted Aug 23, 2005 - I find this light to be really useful for indoor photography when rooms are not too big. The range is limited but I can't expect anything more from such a small light. Its quite lightweight and fits my camcorder perfectly. Overall, a good value for price!

Strengths:Unit is very small and light weight, and you don't need batteries!!!
Posted Jun 27, 2005 - Adds just that extra light for low light video situations. Also adds highlights indoors or in shady places. Runs off of your rechargeable camera battery. Turns itself off when video camera is in "standby" mode.

Strengths:pops right on the top of your handycam.
Posted Apr 23, 2005 - Great item for your handycam. Pops on the top of your camcorder and works great in darker light. I love the way it is so easy to use and it comes in a nice protective case.

Posted Apr 20, 2005 - This is a great little accessory for the price. It helps illuminate your subject when the lighting isn't that great. It isn't very powerful but for the size and the price I can’t complain.

Posted Mar 4, 2005 - It's very small and easy to carry. Attached to my DCR-DVD301 Camorder is perfect match. Easy to use and light weight. I have no complaint with sony product, this is one of the brand name that I trust. The price that I purchase with $5.00 rebate is the best deal to get it.
