Strengths:Great sound...I didn't detect any loss in sound quality. Setup was easy and the remote was also useful for my VCR, TV and Receiver.
Weaknesses:I couldn't get the remote to work with my SONY CD player.
Posted Jun 10, 2005 - I was very pleased. My main reason for the purchase was to use a boombox in an outside screened porch. I found it useful for other rooms also. Since I mainly use my computer to store my music library, it's a convenient way to access favorites anywhere around the house without carrying and loading and reloading disks. I set up a playlist and let it go! An inexpensive way to distribute sound throughout the house.

Strengths:Fantastic sound quality, easy to setup no driver needed
Weaknesses:Disable original soundcard's output
Posted May 5, 2005 - It's a fantastic wireless sound broadcasting solution. Easy to setup with a build in USB audio driver. However, it disable the original sound card. Another disadvantage is it required power supply at both transmitter and receiver. It would be perfect if they can use the original USB power supply. (or the power is not big enough?) Overall, it is a great product!

Strengths:Price, easy to use once set up, no loss of sound quality.
Weaknesses:Non-techies may be intimidated by the remote.
Posted May 14, 2006 - This is a great product at a great price. So far I've used it with powered speakers on the rear deck and in the garage. There doesn't seem to be any loss of sound quality, which is impressive. When colder weather comes and I'm not spending so much time outside I'll probably use it permanently as a way to get a signal to rear speakers in a surround sound set-up.

Strengths:Cool device for dummies.
Posted May 10, 2006 - I have a set of speakers in the living room but all my music files are on the desktop which is in the bed room. With RCA wireless transmitter and receiver, I can easily send the music to my living room without any problem. The sound quality is just amazing, the range is excellent too. RCA really delivers an outstanding product this time.

Strengths:works well, sounds good, doesn't interefere with wifi, small and stylish, remote, doesn't need the software to work
Weaknesses:no display, doesn't integrate with wifi network, difficult to use with large collection of music
Posted Jan 17, 2006 - This Lyra is actually pretty nice. It is stylish and unobtrusive so it won't look gaudy on top of your stereo system/entertainment center. The sounds quality is pretty good. I tried it in a townhouse with transmitter downstairs and receiver connected to stereo upstairs and it worked great without interference to/from wifi because of the 900Mhz frequency. The RF remote control makes it easy to control the music from anywhere.
The only problem I had is that there is no visual display to see what is playing or listings of what is available to play. If you have a large collection of music that can make it difficult to navigate through all the songs if you are looking for something in particular. Technically this can be solved by setting up playlists and just sticking with those. It would be perfect if the remote controll had a small LCD that allowed you to visually browse your collection and choose the music instead of flying blind.
Overall though it is a good product and gets the job done if you just want a simple music player/streamer without a lot of higher end features. I would have kept it if it had a display, but had to return it for merely that fact.

Strengths:Price, Sounds really good, Easy setup
Weaknesses:Software is not great, can be a confusing setup for non-techies
Posted Jul 29, 2006 - Overall a very useful product, that can be used to stream music to a device from your computer. It would have been perfect if it had some sort of display that showed the name of the song.
It worked at first try and easily penetrates walls and has a good range.
I would highly recommend it, if you are in the market for these kinds of products.

Strengths:It works better than what I expected
Posted May 31, 2006 - RCA RD900W Lyra Wireless Transmitter and Receiver works much better than what I expected. For the price of $19.99, you'll get every pennies worth. I hooked the Lyra wireless transmitter to my computer upstairs of a two story house and the Lyra wireless receiver in my basement. I was able to get a very strong signal through 2 floors.

Strengths:Awesome sound quality
Weaknesses:Remote doesn't support itunes
Posted May 7, 2006 - Great product and easy installation. I can transmit the music to my bedroom flawlessly. The sound is just so awesome and I'm addicted to this device right away. It's so useful because I love listening to online radio and watching funny video clips. This set comes in handy when I open up those music files or clips, the sound come out right away and it feels really good.

Strengths:Easy installation, clear sound.
Posted May 7, 2006 - Man, rd900w is just amazing, the sound is so clear and it's really easy to set it up. It doesn't take too much memory resource so my computer just works as normal. The remote is pretty useful as it's got a lot of buttons. Musicmatch not only play your music files but also has a build-in radio so you can listen to online radio. This is an awesome product at an awesome price.

Strengths:Very easy to hook up.
Bargain price.
Weaknesses:Some interference.
Posted May 4, 2006 - Lyra was very easy to hook up and worked right out of the box. I picked up a little interference when we used the central vacuum system, but it is not practical to listen when that is running anyway. Sound quality was excellent. Outstanding value.

Strengths:Great sound.I didn't detect any loss in sound quality. Setup was easy.
Weaknesses:Large Remote Control, Disables simultaneous output w/sound card.
Posted May 2, 2006 - This cool little device made my music listening so much more pleasurable! I ripped all my CDs and transferred them an old laptop, which stays out in the dining room and the Lyra wireless transmitter beams the signal over to the receiver connected to my home theatre system in the living room. We don't use the remote much, since we control everything at the laptop. This is a really inexpensive, easy, and dependable way to get QUALITY wireless music. All my CDs are now filed in 3-ring binders and after they get ripped, I probably won't access them much anymore.

Excellent Option To Transmit Sound Through House
Strengths:Universal Remote Control, USB Interface, Stereo Sound, Transmits over 100 ft., Expandable with other receivers, Great Quality
Weaknesses:Large Remote Control, Disables simultaneous output w/sound card, Only compatible with Musicmatch, Receiver/Transmitter each use separate power supplies,
Posted Apr 25, 2006 - When finding a reasonable deal on this product, I immediately began to explore a possible use for it. This is when I decided that it would work good for a college house, in order to send sound from the PC (upstairs) to the stereo (downstairs). This system works flawlessly in order to accomplish this part, however it is the remote control in which needs improvement.
Luckily, the remote features both an infrared (IR, direct contact and shorter distances) and radio frequency (RF, longer distances). The portion of the remote control in which is used for the PC is the RF, the infrared is used to control the devices in which you already have (TV, home stereo, DVD, etc.) Because the remote features both RF/IR capabilities it is very bulky, about the size of an older cordless phone. The other major drawback with the remote control feature is that it will not work with any other PC software besides Musicmatch, this leaves anyone such as myself that likes to use Winamp, Windows Media Player, or anything else out, unless you want to switch over (I didn't).
Other than the Remote control features there are only a couple of other minor problems with this product. The first problem is that by installing the transmitter your current sound card will become inactive. The final minor problem is the fact that both the Receiver and Transmitter require separate power supplies and will not support batteries. This can be a hassle if you were planning on using the device in a portable atmosphere.
Overall, this product is very beneficial to those in which need to deliver sound from a computer to a home stereo. It features expandability by purchasing extra receivers and also delivers sound flawlessly and without interference.

Strengths:Easy to set up. Very innovative design. Nice, good looking.
Weaknesses:Remote control not very helpful if you can't see the screen of the computer.
Posted Apr 24, 2006 - This is a very cool gadget. I wasn't aware of such a device existed. So I was very skeptical when a friend recommend it to me. But for $20, I thought it was worth the risk. It actually exceeds my expectation. The sound quality was excellent, the set up was easy. It comes with all the hardware/software to make the setup as easy as possible. The only bad thing is that my computer is upstair, and my home theater is down stair, So I can't see the computer screen to know which song will be played next.

Strengths:Works with any format, very inexpensive for all the features, excellent range
Posted Apr 23, 2006 - What a great deal. Had installed and working in about five minutes. Using remote without a screen to tell you what you are changing on the computer can be tricky but for this price who cares. I highly recommend this and I am going to buy one for my Dad and another one to hook up more of my systems to the computer.
