This component of the Aspen 8800 series modular switching family incorporates extensive hardware redundancy and a modular operation system - ExtremeWare XOS. ExtremeWare XOS supports system recovery and application upgrades without the need for a system reboot, as well as networking protocols that provide the network recovery required by converged applications. This chassis includes a passive backplane complemented by high availability design elements such as isolated control and data planes, redundant controller boards for power distribution, fan control and environmental monitoring to identify anomalies before they effect network availability. Plus, a tray of nine fans delivers redundant cooling in the Aspen 8810 chassis. Up to three of the nine fans can fail before the fan tray must be replaced.
